The valley is dominated by the large Liriodendron tulipifera, sixty-five-foot-tall trees that produce yellow flowers similar to tulips. Along the trunks of these trees (as well as on the tree ferns).
Small baskets for aerial plants (Epiphytes) such as orchids, ferns, tillandsias and other bromeliads, hang from their trunks.
